Ever wonder what that nice little column next to the Editor's Note in each print issue of Plymouth Magazine means? You know the one, with all the publisher's information and company phone numbers and whatnot, one of the few places we give a tiny bit of glory to the real movers and shakers who make this pub happen month after month.

Last evening, I had the pleasure of experiencing Twin Cities-based entrepreneur Peter Santrach's latest home furnishing innovation, Mingle, a cabinetry, furnishing and home design showroom off Highway 55 and Industrial Park Boulevard.The full 25,000 square feet of space was packed to the gils with VIPers of every ilk--media, shelter industry, past and future clients--all gathered to witness the cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs and experts including Eli Wollenzien, director of culinary operations for Blue Plate Restaurant Co.; more of these will be present this week when Mingle opens

It’s taken me a week to write this down. I think it’s mostly because I wasn’t sure what to say, meaning, I didn’t have anything worth saying. I was, after all, relatively secure completing the 117th running of the Boston Marathon in a solid 3:36. And while I was two blocks away when the first bomb went off with a hollow, echoing boom a half-hour later, waiting for my friend who’d crossed the finish line barely 5 minutes before, I didn’t see any of the carnage. I didn't even see the smoke. It was not my ears ringing. Not my legs buckling. Not my flesh ripping.

As I write this, I’m sampling the fare of newish-to-town Lucky’s 13 Pub from one of their open-facing half-booths, which line all the walls in the bar.  A faux clay-tile ceiling and brick façade on walls, as well as a wood-paneled bar, brings home the feel of the Irish this time of year.
