Taken on the patio at Rock Elm Tavern in Plymouth, this photograph stars Danica Reitzner’s Siberian Husky, Barrett. Barrett’s nickname, Bear, prompted the photos’ title, There’s a Bear on the Patio.
Plymouth offers a variety of independent and assisted living options for seniors that vary depending on a person’s needs. Each housing option has something unique to offer, from beautiful grounds to large living spaces.

Riley Loew shot this photograph, Mushroom in French Park, on one of his routine hikes where he spends hours waiting to capture the perfect shot. “Sometimes I’d be out there working for two to three hours, waiting for the lighting to be just right so I could get that perfect shot,” Loew says.
Capturing the perfect shot of lightning can require some work and caution. Troy Brantner had set up on a bridge over Medicine Lake during a thunderstorm to get this shot.
Readers, you voted for your favorite businesses in a bunch of fun categories this year, from restaurants to doggy daycares to fitness spots. Before the winners of our Best of Plymouth 2018 contest are announced in July, here are the top three finalists in each category (listed alphabetically).
Jennifer MacCourt developed a passion for photography out of the necessity of her job as a pattern tester. “I used to hire photographers to test the patterns for me, but that gets really expensive. So I decided to do it myself,” she says.
Rachel Hall’s passion for photography was ignited by the camera that her husband bought her as a Christmas gift. After initially taking pictures at boys’ baseball games, her interest shifted to birds and landscapes.
It’s hard to figure out what’s happening from afar, but several police vehicles are at a Plymouth gas station investigating a group of three suspects—they had tried to use a credit card several times there that day.
