Walk, Run and Roll Your Way Over to Make a Difference

Nonprofit organization supporting those with disabilities hosts a fundraising race.

“To provide innovative and life-enriching services for children, adolescents and adults with disabilities.” This is the mission statement of Homeward Bound, a nonprofit organization based in Plymouth that provides 24-hour specialized care to people of all ages with a disability who live at home, in group homes and individualized housing.

Homeward Bound believes that social and community interaction should be the central part of a person’s life. They work to break down the barriers between this possibility and the reality of disability. Those working with this organization learn to develop important skills, make choices on their own and grow immensely in the process. All of this is achieved while keeping four main values in mind: choice, community, inclusion and integrity.

Made in the Shade is a walk, run, and roll fundraising event for those living with disabilities. The race will be held on September 15 at Bde Maka Ska (formerly known as Lake Calhoun). Register online now and with registration receive a T- shirt and lunch the day of the race. Visit hbimn.org for more information.
