Winter Snowshoeing

No matter the skill level, snowshoeing at French Regional Park is fun for the whole family.

January typically has all the snow you could want, so why not go snowshoeing? French Regional Park has multiple snowshoeing events this month, providing wintery fun for the whole family.

The first event is a snowshoe hike under the full moon. Settled right around Medicine Lake, there are two dedicated snowshoeing areas with easy access to parking, fishing and the visitor center. You’ll get to experience the lake under the moon, then join with other families for s’mores around a bonfire. All ages. $7. January 13, 6-8 p.m.

Next, there are two daytime snowshoeing events on the same day. The first is for beginners. The park will provide snowshoes and direct you around the park with experienced instructors. This is a great family experience that can segue into family snowshoeing later in the day. During this event, visitors are encouraged to explore the park on their own and study animal tracks. Hot chocolate is available for everyone at the end of the event. Beginner snowshoeing, $5 per person. January 28, 10-11:30 a.m.; family snowshoeing, $6 per person. January 28, 1-2:30 p.m.
