A Magical Christmas
The city and Plymouth
Historical Society create a historically themed Christmas perfect for the whole family.
Recreation supervisor and organizer of this year’s Old Fashioned Plymouth Christmas, Jessie Koch, believes it’s all about excitement and family during the holiday season.
“Christmas is an exciting time—personally, my parents always went above and beyond,” she says. “We were able see reindeer food on the roof and reindeer tracks. It was so elaborate and fun for me.” And elaborate is exactly what Plymouth’s annual Christmas event will be. On December 6, the city co-hosts the event along with the Plymouth Historical Society, and your family can enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the holidays. Watch for a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus (and their elves and reindeer), listen to Christmas stories, hop on a hay ride, and sample some holiday cookies.
Koch also points out that volunteers spend a hefty amount of time decorating for the event in an attempt to make the scenery as genuine as possible, since they want everyone to feel like they’re in the past. “We don’t just get a parent with their kid; we get grandparents and whole families,” she adds. All ages are welcome to the free event. —Courtney Blake
