Antique sewing machines, kitchen displays, and fancy pump organs from days gone by are just a few of the items inside the small white building that is now home to the Plymouth Historical Society.

 

The entertainment season is nearly upon us. Those fall and winter evenings when Minnesotans gather indoors with a fire crackling in the fireplace, candles twinkling on the mantle and wines uncorked for sipping with friends and family.

Love trying new food? Want to raise money for your favorite nonprofit? Look no further than Plymouth-based Food Perspectives.

 

In February two products from Plymouth-based McNaughton Incorporated, competed in Walmart’s premiere “Get on the Shelf” contest—a competition similar to American Idol but with products instead of talent, says McNaughton vice president Jamie McNaughton.

 

The first apple brought about original sin; another one launched the Trojan War. In the here and now, apples are a benevolent fruit with a wholesome reputation: fit to give a favorite teacher or to insure against doctor’s appointments.

 

Visual artists capture beauty. They click a shutter, paint a canvas or sculpt a stone and encapsulate a perspective. Their efforts provide a vision for viewers to behold, contemplate and appreciate. Some are self-taught. Others are classically trained.

 

With the holidays right around the corner, it’s time to extract your inner host or hostess. Between the invites, the decorating and all of those little details, who has time for cooking?

 

One winter day in 1998, longtime Plymouth resident Len Muehleisen decided he needed a vacation from the Minnesota cold, and wanted to get as far away as possible. Muehleisen picked up his globe and put one finger on Minneapolis; the other landed on a random destination: Bangkok, Thailand.

 

Looking for a refreshing summer beverage? Mike Moe, assistant manager at the Cellars Wine and Spirits, recommends St. Germain Gin and Tonic. Made from fresh-picked elderflowers, Moe says the French liqueur St.

 

Balancing soccer, National Honor Society, hockey, lacrosse and a 3.99 GPA may seem near impossible, but for Plymouth resident Heather Kaluzniak, it’s a breeze. “I don’t see [my activities] as something I have to organize,” Kaluzniak says.
