The City of Plymouth is set to hold the event What a Musical Night: Music and a Musical 7-10 p.m. Friday, August 12 at East Medicine Lake Park, 1740 E. Medicine Lake Blvd.

Attendees are invited to enjoy a night of music while indulging in soul food, which will be available for purchase from the Wholesoul food truck. The new event is part of Plymouth’s Summer Beach Series.

The movie “Respect,” rated PG-13, will begin at 8:30 p.m. “Respect” follows the rise of Aretha Franklin's career – from a child singing in her father's church choir to her international superstardom – and tells the story of the music icon's journey to find her voice.

Those planning on attending the event should bring their own blankets or lawn chairs.
