Plymouth Donates Peanut Butter and Jelly to Feed Needy Kids

For kids who get free lunch and breakfast at school, summer can be tough. They need hearty and healthy meals that can be made without help from an adult. Maybe the best parent-free meal is the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It’s a nutritional powerhouse, high in fiber, rich in protein—and tasty to boot.   That’s why Plymouth businesses and the Emergency Foodshelf Network are asking people to donate jars of peanut butter and jelly for their May food drive. “Everybody’s really generous around Christmas, and that’s great, but our biggest need is in the summer,” said Peg McQuillan, the director of development and marketing at the organization. Donations can be dropped off through May 31 at Cowboy Jack’s, European Wax Center, Lake West Chiropractic & Natural Health, Anchor Bank, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Merrill Hair Designers, VSA Custom Apparel, Caribou Coffee, Pilgrim Cleaners, Freedom Gas Station, Haskell’s, HOM Furniture, Italian Tan and the UPS Store.   PB&J May Food Drive Kick Off Tuesday, April 30 6-9 p.m. Cowboy Jack’s 4120 Berkshire Lane N. $5 glasses and $2 refills for Budweiser, Bud Light and Michelob Golden Light—glasses will include a $5 discount coupon for Lake West Chiropractic and Natural Health.
