Plymouth Life Time Kids’ Triathlon

Everyone’s a winner at the Plymouth Life Time Kids’ Triathlon.
The tri-eyed guy at Life Time Fitness's annual kids triathlon.

This year, more than 450 kids ages 7–12 will be impatiently awaiting the word “go” to submerge themselves in Life Time’s eight-lane competition pool for the first leg of the youth triathlon. The incredibly popular race will feature two divisions: junior, which includes ages 7–10, and senior, which includes ages 11 and 12. After a 25-yard (75 yards for ages 9-12) dip in the pool, racers barrel through the parking lot, around club trails and zoom past the baseball fields of Plymouth Creek Park on foot and bicycle alike. The young competitors will cross the finish at Hilde Performance Center. What kids love about the event is “the sense of accomplishment,” says Debbie Hale, race director for the Life Time Kids Triathlon in Plymouth. “They have to complete this event on their own without the help of their parents.” Every kid who finishes gets a medal and volunteers posted along the way ensure that everyone who starts the race finishes it in strides. It’s a wonderful confidence booster for young athletes in Plymouth. & Life Time Kids’ Triathlon Sunday, July 14 Registration fees: $40, members; $45  non-members ltkidstri.com
