The photo, titled “Do You Want To Build a Snowman?” after the Disney movie’s popular song, was a finalist in the 2014 Picture Plymouth photo contest. See winners from this year’s contest on this page beginning next month.
For adults, winter is something of a hassle—think: snow-buried cars and slippery commutes. But for kids, snow days can make hearts race with excitement. Plymouth’s Andrea Fazendin captured one such moment with her 5-year-old daughter, Charlie. “It was just kind of a fun moment where we stepped out of the busyness of every day and took time just to catch snowflakes on our tongues and make a snowman,” she says.
Fazendin spends her days as an art consultant and claims photography as a hobby. “You can learn so much about the world around you by the things people photograph,” she says. “I just love that you can focus your attention on something that someone else finds interesting.”
The photo, captured in the backyard of her Plymouth home with a point-and-shoot camera, encapsulates her family’s lifestyle of “enjoying the simple things” and “appreciating the simple joys of nature,” she says.
