The Vanderheyden home, which we featured in our September issue that was furnished by local remodeling company Mingle, caught the attention of more than just our editorial staff—it’s being featured in the Parade of Homes spring showcase and will participate in an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. March 18. Adding half a story and just more than 850 square feet to the classic rambler, “the idea was to bring the outdoors in,” owner Dan Vanderheyden says. Complete with a front porch and deck to complement their backyard, the couple hopes to show fellow baby boomers that you don’t need to add thousands of square feet to have a home that is wonderful to live in.
