Realtor of the Year

To realtor Kath Hammerseng, selling houses is about giving back. “I really, really love helping people with that piece [of buying their house]. It’s a big deal, a big investment, and I love helping guide people through that,” she says. This year, the Plymouth resident working with Edina Realty was chosen from among thousands of local agents as Realtor of the Year by the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors. Threaded through her love for residential real estate is her commitment to serving the world. Not only does she guide young couples in buying their first houses—but up until she retired from the West Metro Fire Reserve District in 2013, you could regularly find her rushing out to fight fires. She is also the community outreach chairwoman for the New Hope YMCA
