Read the August/September 2022 Plymouth Magazine Digital Edition
As the summer starts to unwind and the days start to quicken, I can’t help but be reminded that this is my favorite time of year. Now, a September birthday may make me a bit biased, but there’s also something about the transition between August and September that represents a sweet sadness to me.
Summer will be over soon, and before you know it school will be back in session. Maybe it’s that gut-level sense of anticipation, of new beginnings that has stuck with me since school. It’s a return to rigor but also to friends and learning something new.
In 2022, I’m sure students of all ages felt some level of suspense but also relief. Classes moved off-screen and back to the classroom. Sports, clubs and extracurriculars could resume. In 2021, our high school senior feature took a pause not because there weren’t deserving seniors, but because every student had to step up to the plate and prove themselves in new and unanticipated ways.
Now, it gives me great pleasure to welcome our Plymouth Senior Spotlight (page 16) back to our pages. Read more about our finalists and their accomplishments, from golfing the greens to designing surveillance systems that track their family’s cat.
This issue gives me a block party vibe—we’re learning a little something new about our neighbors. In Stories to Last a Lifetime (page 12), you’ll learn about a Plymouth nurse and author who penned one of the definitive textbooks in her field. In Breaking (News) Dad (page 24), you’ll meet an NFL broadcaster that goes live from his basement in Plymouth.
What stories do your neighbors have to share? It’s an excellent time to find out.
Until next time,
