Peg Brantman is becoming an old pro at picturing Plymouth; her first-place image, Victory Tunnel, graced our July 2013 back page. But this one, which earned her a second-place nod in the Landmarks category, is poignant for its reflection of historic St. Joseph’s Church.“This photo was taken very specifically with the photo contest in mind,” Brantman says. “We attend church there every Sunday, and this little church has been declared a historic site. The original parish community had a very influential role in the history of Plymouth. I thought it would be a natural for submission in the Plymouth Landmarks category. Since the church is right around the corner from our home, I drove over one day and did a little photo shoot.”The church fully embraced Historical St. Joseph's Church, Medicine Lake, too: A framed replica of the image and the winning certificate brought a modest donation at St. Joe’s annual festival and silent auction held last November.&Polls are closed! Watch plymouthmag.com for the results of this year’s photo contest, including our readers’ choice category which was voted upon September 10–30 in an online poll. Select winners from the 2013 contest will be printed on these pages beginning in January.
