Plymouth’s Hannah Carlson: Oscar Meyer Hotdogger

A local public relations grad hits the road in the Wienermobile, remembering Plymouth along the way.
Hannah Carlson, a local grad who has been traveling the country in the Wienermobile.

For the last five months, Hannah Carlson has been traveling the country promoting the Oscar Meyer brand as a “hotdogger,” a prestigious post-college job that only 12 out of 1,000 applicants earn each year. During her journey, she drove from New York to San Diego, but the up-and-coming public relations specialist still pegs her native Plymouth as one of the country’s best hometowns.“Plymouth is like having an extended family wherever you go,” Carlson says. “Everyone is so close and genuinely nice. I don’t think people realize that until they leave Minnesota.”Some of Carlson’s favorite local pastimes include grabbing a cold press from Caribou Coffee, catching a flick with friends at the Mann 12 movie theater and driving her brother, Aaron, to her alma mater, Wayzata High School, whenever she comes home.Carlson, who returns to Plymouth for Thanksgiving before finishing the last six months of her “hotdogging” job, looks forward to being surrounded once again by the familiar comforts that living in Plymouth brings.“When you’re on the road, you don’t know the local spots, or where the best place is to catch a sunset,” she says, citing Parkers Lake as the best place in Plymouth to watch the sun slip below the horizon. As for her next adventure, Carlson is unsure what the future holds. But regardless of where she ends up, Plymouth will always have a special place in her heart. “If I were to raise a family, I’d want to do it in Plymouth, but for now, I’m going to keep exploring,” she says. @ Follow the Oscar Meyer Hotdoggers on Twitter @wienermobile.
