Hobby photographer Danny Dobrin—who’s had art featured on this page before—has been snapping shots for about eight years, but it was this image captured last summer of daughter Nyla that caught the eye of the 2012 Picture Plymouth judges.Dobrin, who works for a modern creative agency called Morsekode as an account manager, says “childhood curiosity and exploration inspired this image. In general, I tend to find inspiration in the unexpected.”That day, all of the neighborhood kids were playing in the Dobrin yard when Danny came home and immediately noticed the chalk drawing—and the incredible amount of detail within. “Then, in the sea of circles, I spotted Nyla, clutching a piece of sidewalk chalk as she gazed down at the work of art,” he says. “I quickly got out of my car, ran inside to get my camera and captured the photo just in time.”Dobrin has lived in Plymouth for about 10 years with his “amazing” wife, Andrea, and two daughters, Nyla and Hailey, “who bring incredible amounts of joy to our lives,” he says.
