Plymouth Farmers Market 2013

Plymouth’s farmers market amps up with new vendors and more fresh produce in 2013.

Everyone expects fresh veggies and fruits at the farmers market. Some savvy customers might also come seeking flowers, jams, jellies and bread. And all of these will walk away satisfied from the fourth annual Plymouth farmers market, held Wednesday afternoons outside the Plymouth Ice Arena. This year’s can’t-miss vendors? Sweetwater Roasters, a new coffee vendor, and Jerky Direct, a natural jerky producer, are both joining the market in 2013. “The market not only provides the opportunity to shop for a variety of fresh, local products directly from Minnesota-grown farmers and producers, but it’s also helping to support our local economy, which is a mutually rewarding experience for both local vendors and Plymouth residents,” says recreation supervisor Alyssa Krumholz, the city’s market organizer. To this end, the market will host its first fully organic vegetable vendor. Sugar Bush Ridge Farm is returning with sticky sweet honey, as is Thompson’s Hillcrest Orchard  with an expansive selection of apples later in the season.  In many ways, year four is a major milestone, making it past that critical three-year hump and into official “annual” event status. “We are learning new things every year,” Krumholz says, encouraging feedback from both vendors and attendees through surveys available at the market or online at plymouthmn.gov. Watch for music, theme nights and family activities at this year’s market, thanks to feedback from previous years’ evaluations.  & Plymouth Farmers Market Hours: 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays through October 2 Parking lot between Plymouth Ice Arena and Life Time Fitness 3600 Plymouth Blvd.
