If you find an unexpected letter in your mailbox in the coming weeks, don't fret. It's just the City of Plymouth trying to keep residents connected.
The city's Parks and Recreation Department has launched a new volunteer-based program called the Plymouth Post. Volunteers will write letters to be sent to those feeling isolated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The city says most of the letters will go to seniors, but anyone can become a recipient. If you or someone you know could use a burst of happiness every now and again, simply email recreation@plymouthmn.gov to get on the recipient list.
On the flip side, if you've got enough happiness to share, the city is seeking volunteers to write letters for the Plymouth Post.
"Volunteers may share what activities they’ve participated in this summer, send a photo of an amusing pet or show artistic talent by drawing a picture to include with the letter," the city says in an email. "Creativity is encouraged."
