Savor the Last of Summer

Cap off the summer with s’mores and yard games, and say “Hello” to fall with pumpkin decorating at Medina Celebration Day.

As summer simmers to a close and autumn is before us, the annual Medina Celebration Day is a great way to spend the last summer days.  This lively event includes a business expo for Medina businesses, a farmers market and local food vendors, as well as plenty of fun for the whole family, including crafts, yard games, inflatable bouncy houses and pumpkin decorating.

“The event seems to grow as the city grows,” says Anne Klaers, a Medina police and finance clerk who has run the event for the past three years. “We ran out of pumpkins last year, and we had 300 pumpkins.” She estimates that over 1,000 people attended the event last year.

This year, North Star Search and Rescue will bring their dogs out for fun demonstrations. Bingo will be hosted by the Hamel Lions club for a small cost . An antique fire truck will offer rides for the kids and the there will be an opportunity to gather around the fire with the Boy Scouts of Medina to make some good old-fashioned s’mores.

Medina Celebration Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hamel Community Building. For more information or to get involved, contact Anne Klaers.
