Photographer Logan Lovett shares some thoughts on capturing the perfect image.
An example of the Love BEA Creative team’s work.

Photographer and Wayzata High School alum Logan Lovett returns to the area as one half of the Love BEA Creative team, which provides photography, film and makeup services. He shares his memories of Plymouth and some tricks of the trade.

What was your favorite thing about growing up in Plymouth?
It’s a really family-oriented place—lots to do, good schools—what’s not to like? Plus, when I was in high school, Plymouth was named the No. 1 Best Place to Live [in the nation by Money Magazine], which we thought was pretty cool.

How did you get into photography?

I went to school at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and studied film. While there, I also began to study photography.

What’s your favorite photography memory?
In Milwaukee, we did a circus-themed photo shoot on a carousel. It was really cold out, but cold days often lead to really good pictures.

Where are the best places in the area for family photographs?
I like French Regional Park: It just has a lot of nice paths and trees. In Wayzata, I really like the docks on Lake Minnetonka, as well as downtown Wayzata.

What are your tips for taking photos with kids and pets?
It’s most important to be patient. Kids and pets are the hardest things to take pictures of. Make sure they’re fed. I’ve had a few photo shoots where parents are feeding their kids during the shoot. Be prepared to take a lot of photos in order to get the shot you want.
