After securing Plymouth Magazine’s Best Salon/Spa Award in 2012, Simonson’s Salon & Spa is about to upgrade their space in a new location. But never fear, Plymouthites, your favorite stylists are staying in town.
“We’ve been in our current location for 10 years,” owner Kyle Simonson says. “Plymouth is a very vibrant mecca for commerce and we have thousands and thousands of customers, but we’re planning on moving further east to where everyone does their shopping.”
The new location is still in the first phases of the building process, but it will be modeled after Simonson’s current Maple Grove location.
“What we’re going to build is going to be different. It’s not going to look like any kind of retail mall,” Simonson explains. “It will be modern, fresh and larger than 7,000 square feet. There will be roughly 4,000 to 5,000 additional square feet of the building available for lease.”
Simonson’s will own the building, allowing for the opportunity to expand and remodel as necessary. The color scheme is geared toward creating a zen-like vibe with lime green, silver, brown and copper. The building features 3D ceilings and full spectrum LED lighting. An additional spa is also included in the floor plans.
Simonson hopes that the more convenient location will expand her long list of clients.
“From our experience in Maple Grove, we learned that the old phrase ‘location, location, location,’ couldn’t be more true,” Simonson says. “When we moved just off of [interstate] 94, our business grew by 20 percent.”
The new Simonson’s location will be at 2855 Glacier Lane in Plymouth. The ground breaking ceremony will take place on July 27 at 9:30 a.m. and light refreshments will be served.
The building is expected to be finished by the end of the year with a grand opening scheduled in April 2013. The current Plymouth location will remain operational during this time.
