Review: Painted Turtle’s Bourbon Brownies & Truffles

Just in time for the Kentucky Derby, Pat Godfrey shares her delicious infused chocolates.
Bourbon brownies are especially decadent, cakelike infusions frosted with a white buttercream and a dollop of chocolate ganache.

Any holiday is a reason to buy something sweet at Painted Turtle Chocolatier. Commemorating the Kentucky Derby, owner Pat Godfrey will be putting out a couple of bourbon treats, including the bourbon brownie, a frosted, cakelike brownie with a hint of bourbon and sprinkled with pecans ($2.50), along with a crown of roses bourbon truffle in a shell mold with a horse’s head crowned with roses ($2.50). Apparently the theme has caught on with customers, because she sells out every year on the day of the race (May 5 this year). For Cinco de Mayo (also May 5), there will be chili truffles, lime flan and lime bars, and for Mother’s Day on May 13, consider special cakes and cupcakes in spring flavors like coconut, lemon and raspberry. 763.550.9475
