Sing “Happy Birthday” three times, spit, and rinse. Floss between each tooth, at least once a day. The lessons seem simple, but being taught dental hygiene is not a luxury many kids are exposed to. Krista Geisler is out to change what Plymouth kids know about taking care of those pearly whites.
Geisler opened her own dentistry practice, Life Smiles, in 2010 after moving from two other locations around the Plymouth area. Since April, Geisler has volunteered at local day cares and elementary schools, speaking about healthy eating and tooth care. “I bring a big crocodile for the kids to practice brushing and flossing,” Geisler says. “He gets a lot of hugs.”
Geisler’s office also participates in the annual Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) event every February that offers free dental health care for children 18 and younger, including exams, cleaning and fluorides. “One of the great things about being a business owner is I can choose to use my practice to host a GKAS event,” she says.
