Sunshine Factory Bar & Grill is a go-to restaurant and watering hole, and has been since it opened in New Hope in 1976. It’s become a favorite in Plymouth since its relocation in 2013, too, and this year it took home “Best of” honors in our Restaurant, Tavern and Patio categories. We chatted with Michelle Ewert, who started over a decade ago as a server at the old location, slowly moved into bartending, and is now behind the bar more days than not. We got her take on what makes it such a great spot, her favorite order, and more:
Let’s say—purely hypothetically—you got to enjoy an uninterrupted dinner at Sunshine Factory. Where would you sit?
If I were to go to the Sunshine Factory for dinner, I would definitely sit in the bar area. The dining room is great for a quiet dinner but I like the energy of the bar!
What’s your favorite day of the year there?
Definitely the day we open the patio for our busy summer season. It’s refreshing to come into work and be able to spend time outdoors enjoying the weather. It’s awesome!
What do you love most about your job? What’s kept you there for over a decade?
The people. We are all so different, but can come together and do a great job for our customers to ensure that they continue to come back again and again. That is something that hasn’t changed over the years! We are all here to give our guests a great experience. I also love that our regulars have become our friends. If something exciting happens in their lives, they come in to share it with us. We are very lucky to have a great group of regulars at this location. They truly are like family!
