Eyelash Extensions in Plymouth

Certified stylist Cindy Severns on everything you need to know about eyelash extensions.

The hottest beauty trend this season is eyelash extensions. “Eyelash extensions are the new little black dress,” says Cindy Severns, aesthetician at Simonson’s Salon and Spa. “A lot of celebrities are getting them.” Here are a few things to take into consideration before trying on a new pair.

  •    Cost and time are important. The full-set service at Simonson’s takes two hours and costs $175, which is about the going rate across the Twin Cities metro area. There are less extensive services available, such as the fill, which costs $75 at Simonson’s and takes one hour. “The fill applies the extensions to the outer edges of your lashes,” Severns says. “It’s a good way to try out extensions.”

•    The type of lash used is important. “Make sure the lash used is safe, and the aesthetician applying the lashes is certified,” she says, adding that Simonson’s uses synthetic and mink lashes.

•    The process is not invasive. “Artificial lashes are applied to your natural lashes,” Severns explains. “They don’t replace your lashes.” Different looks can be achieved depending on how the lashes that are applied. “Tell your aesthetician what you’re looking for,” Severns says. The extensions last until your natural lashes fall out, which is typically every two to three weeks. Simonson’s, 2855 Glacier Lane N.; 763.550.1121.
