Explore the Wineries of Waconia

Just about a half hour away, Waconia is the perfect day trip for wine and beer lovers. Here’s a guide of where to go.

Schram Vineyards

A winery that’s also a brewery

Schram Vineyards is a winery and brewery, open year round. They offer wine and beer clubs and discounts for members. In the spring, Blossom, a popular white wine with tropical flavors and white tea notes, is offered. They also have dry reds and Bumbley, a sparkling honey wine. Guests are welcome to taste their wines in the tasting room overlooking their vineyard and Reitz Lake. Additionally, they sell beer growlers and are open on Sundays.

Sovereign Estate Winery

Beautiful grounds right on the water

Sovereign Estate Winery is right next to Lake Waconia, bringing in a pleasant lake effect that keeps the vineyard fresh should an early frost arrive. Sovereign Estate grows three award-winning northern hybrid varieties: Marquette, LaCrescent and Frontenac Blanc. Sovereign Estate hosts large events for guests; one popular feature is the southern facing slope offering great sunlight.

Parley Lake Winery

A family-friendly winery that offers award-winning wines

Parley Lake Winery is about the merging of wine and art. On the vineyard, they have life size bronzes, and art events are held frequently. As for the wine, owner Steve Zeller says, “It’s really good wine that just happens to be from Minnesota.” Parley Lake wines have won 148 medals, 32 of which were gold, at various world events. One of their popular white wines, Parley Vu Rosé, is crisp and good with food. There is also an apple orchard nearby, so Parley likes to keep the atmosphere family friendly and kid hospitable.
