Though Sarah Kendall Gow has lived in Plymouth for just more than a year, it didn’t take her long to appreciate all the community has to offer, such as French Regional Park, where she snapped this photo.
“There are so many things I love about Plymouth,” the Duluth native says. “First and foremost, I love the abundant walking paths and trails. It’s a place where I can be close to nature, but have [access to] the fast-paced city life only 15 minutes away.” She’s not the only one who enjoys the area: “My dog is a huge part of my life, and Plymouth offers great dog parks that allow my fur baby to socialize with other dogs and get extra exercise,” she says.
On a warm summer weekend, with a new Nikon Coolpix camera in hand, Gow and her boyfriend were taking a walk with their puppy, Oakley, scouting out picturesque scenery in the woods and along the trails to try out the new camera. “It wasn’t until we took a moment to relax that we noticed the cute little duck family soaking up the sun on the dock,” she says. “It was a perfect moment that we happened to stumble on.”
Photography is a hobby for Gow, who developed a strong interest alongside her brother in high school: “We got really into it when we discovered how to mess with aperture speeds on my dad’s old Minolta.”
