A Grand Weekend for Galas

TwinWest Chamber Dances Under the Stars and St. David’s Center for Child & Family Development Makes Them Shine.

If you want to enjoy an evening of entertainment while mixing it up with fellow community members for a good cause, may as well make a weekend of it. First attend the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce’s “Dancing Under the Stars” gala March 9 at the Doubletree By Hilton Minneapolis-Park Place in St. Louis Park, and the follow that up a night later at St. David’s Center for Child & Family Development’s “Make Them Shine” gala at International Market Square. Here’s a summary at what both have to offer:

 

Dancing Under the Stars

What: The TwinWest Chamber’s 27th annual gala features gourmet food from some of the best restaurants and caterers in the Twin Cities area, plus you can put your name in the mix for silent and live auctions, before finally dancing the night away to the sights and sounds of R-Factor.

Who You’ll Help: This is a great way to support your business community, as proceeds go to TwinWest Chamber of Commerce initiatives and the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce Foundation scholarship fund. 

When: March 9, 7 p.m.-12 a.m.

Where: Doubletree By Hilton Minneapolis-Park Place, 5000 Park Place Blvd., St. Louis Park

Make Them Shine

What: A VIP sponsor reception wine tasting with Vintage U Founder wine critic Bill Coy and a beer tasting with Thorpe Distributing kicks off the fundraiser at 5 p.m. Then at 6 p.m., the gala gets going with hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction with BidPal and a cash bar followed by dinner, a program, a live auction and entertainment by the Paul Peterson Orchestra, playing music through 9:30 p.m.

Who: More than 500 people are expected to attend, including former Vikings great John Randle. Dr. Megan Gunnar, director of the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota, will provide summary findings about how brain development is adversely affected by toxic stress early in life and how early intervention can help.

Who You’ll Help: The goal of the event is to raise $325,000 to improve outcomes for the more than 1,000 children with developmental needs that St. David's Center serves on site and throughout the Twin Cities.

When: March 10, 5 p.m. VIP wine/beer tasting; gala goes from 6-9:30 p.m.

Where: International Market Square, 275 Market Street, Minneapolis
