If you ask me, the opportunity to try over 50 different wines is a good enough reason to attend any event. But when you can go to a public wine tasting while supporting a good community cause, it’s tough to justify not going.
The Music in Plymouth Endowment Fund (MIPEF) will be the worthy local cause reaping the benefits of a wine tasting from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 6 at the Plymouth Creek Center.
Is wine a foreign language to you? No problem. Wine experts from Haskell’s Wines & Spirits will be your translators, guiding you through the same wines that will be available for purchase at a discount at Haskell’s after the event. Guests will also enjoy hors d’oeuvres, music and an opportunity to win gift baskets.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door and can be purchased by contacting John Babcock at 763.553.1900 or via email, or by printing an order form online.
A portion of the proceeds support the event host, MIPEF, which was established in 2007 with the goal of securing the financial future of Music in Plymouth, a free community event featuring the Minnesota Orchestra. The fund was started with a donation of 180,000 from former mayor Al Hilde, Jr. and his wife Jayne along with other founding contributors from around the community.
Raising $1 million by 2012 is MIPEF’s goal. All you need to do to help is buy a ticket, and you may as well try some wine.
