The Plymouth city council authorized completion of design and construction documents for the renovation and expansion of Plymouth Creek Center this fall. There will be an 80,000-square foot addition to the community center as well as renovations to the existing space.
Plymouth parks and recreation director Diane Evans says, “Plymouth has changed considerably since the facility opened 20 years ago. After a lengthy public feedback process, the renovation and expansion project was designed to provide high-demand features for all ages, which will be available during daytime and evening hours.”
New features will include two full-size gyms for programming for all ages including basketball, pickleball and badminton; an indoor walking track; an indoor playground; community meeting rooms; fitness studios and amenities for yoga and Zumba classes; art rooms and an art gallery; a dance studio and more.
The ballroom will be renovated and suitable for events such as weddings. The Black Box Theatre will be redesigned. There will be a performance space and space for educational events and meetings.
Construction is expected to begin in August/September 2020 and is slated to be completed in September 2022.
