Susan Dyrud MacDonald’s Photography

A Picture Plymouth winner showcases her love of Plymouth.

Susan Dyrud MacDonald has been excited about photography from an early age. “In my pre-teen years, I plastered my room with pages from magazines (especially National Geographic) with photos that touched me, and I would sort of just absorb them,” she says.

A self-described photography hobbiest, she shot “The Fountain” on July 7, 2010, at Millennium Garden, when her daughter was in just the right place at just the right time. “My children are so my main muses, at the moment,” she says of Taylor, Milo and Lucy, who share a Plymouth household with their dad (and MacDonald’s husband) Ryan, and cat Sheldon, fish Suya and puppy Ralph.

Dyrud MacDonald is a big fan of Plymouth and its many “secret photography spots, a special tree here and a patch of sky there.” Most notably, she’s gotten many of her favorite shots at French Regional Park, Parkers Lake and, like this image, Millennium Garden. “What we appreciate most about living in the city of Plymouth is how it is cared for by the city and residents,” she says. “Plymouth is proud of Plymouth, and it shows.”
