Annual Plymouth Firefighters 5K

The eighth annual Plymouth firefighters 5K run/walk and kids’ fun run is this month

After participating in the St. Bonifacious Fire Department’s 5K, Plymouth firefighter and avid runner, Steve Marti and his race-savvy wife, Joni, created the Plymouth Firefighters 5K. The goal is to promote community health, as well as raise funds for the Plymouth Firefighters Relief Association, which helps our firefighters in various ways ranging from providing flowers at funerals, to buying a stair stepper for the department.

This year’s race is September 29, at Plymouth Fire Station No. 2. Led by Marti in a fire truck, 5K participants will wind their way through surrounding neighborhoods beginning at 9 a.m., followed by half- and full-mile kids’ runs at 10 a.m. Adult participants will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt featuring this year’s Dalmatian theme, while all kids receive a gift as they cross the finish line. In addition to the races, participants can tour the fire station and climb into a fire truck.
